CV Programme Manager: 6 Examples, Coordinator to Director

A CV for a programme manager role shows that you can run several linked projects towards one goal: the scope you owned, the budget and team you led, the benefits you delivered and the governance you kept in order. Below are six complete programme manager CVs, from a programme coordinator to a programme director, checked in November 2026. Each one gives the size of the programme in pounds, people and months. Pick the closest sample, keep the structure, and swap in your own figures.

Programme managers tend to write CVs that read like a programme plan: forty bullets, every workstream, no outcome. The person reading has about the same appetite for that as for a Gantt chart on a Monday morning. Give the size, the result and what you personally decided.

Example 1: a programme coordinator moving up

If you are early in programme work, show the support you gave: reporting, risk logs, meetings and budget tracking. Name the programme and its size, even if you were not in charge.

What the sources agree on

The National Careers Service says in its guide to writing a CV: "A CV is your first chance to promote yourself." It also asks for a clear layout: "It’s good to make your CV clear and easy to read." For a programme manager, clear means one page of headline results before the detail.

The University of St Andrews advises in its CV guidance: "It should match the job you’re applying for, to show the employer how well you meet their requirements." For programme roles, copy the posting's wording on governance, benefits and stakeholders if it is true of you. The same guidance reminds UK applicants: "If applying for jobs in the UK, ensure you use British spelling throughout." Programme, organise and prioritise, not program, organize and prioritize.

The University of Manchester's careers service explains in its step-by-step CV guide that the most common failure is skipping the preparation: it names "Reflecting on their skills and experience and being authentic" as one of the steps applicants miss. Write the CV from your real record of programmes, not from a template.
