Example Modeling Resume: 6 Samples From First Shoot to Pro

By · Published · Updated

6 min read

A modeling resume is a one-page list of what you have booked, who you worked with and your basic stats, with a headshot or digital comp card attached, not a job-history essay. Below are six complete modeling resume samples, from a beginner with no paid work to a working commercial model, plus the order of sections, the stats to include and what to cut. Pick the sample closest to your level, swap in your own bookings, and keep it to one page.

Most modeling resumes fail the same way: 400 words about being "passionate and photogenic" and one line of actual bookings. The booker has 60 other submissions open. Put the bookings first.

Example 1: a beginner with no paid work yet

Start here if you have never been booked. Do not invent clients. List test shoots, school or local work, training and your stats, and let the photos carry the page.

What the sources agree on

The U.S. Department of Labor's O*NET database describes the job in one line: models "Model garments or other apparel and accessories for prospective buyers at fashion shows, private showings, or retail establishments." Your resume should read like that line: what you modeled, for whom, in what setting.

MIT's career office tells every applicant, in its resume guide, to "Record accomplishments and contributions, not just responsibilities." For a model, an accomplishment is a booking: the client, the type of job and the year.

Harvard's career services lists "Specific rather than general" as the first rule of resume language, in its resume guide. A line naming a swimwear lookbook and its year is specific. A line saying various commercial work is not.

Frequently asked questions

What should a modeling resume include?

Your name and category, current stats, a list of bookings with client, job type and year, any training, skills a client could use, and contact details or your agency.

How do I write a modeling resume with no experience?

List test shoots, student or local work, workshops and your stats, label unpaid work as unpaid, and add good photos. Do not invent clients.

How long should a modeling resume be?

One page. Agents and clients scan many submissions, so put bookings near the top and cut anything that is not a job, a skill or a stat.

Do models need a cover letter?

Rarely. When you email an agency, a short note with your category, your city, a link to your photos and the resume attached is enough.

Should I put my measurements on a modeling resume?

Yes, for fashion, fitness and fit work, because clients book by size. For commercial and lifestyle work height and clothing sizes are usually enough.
