Spanish Resume Template: 6 Examples Written in Spanish

A Spanish resume template uses six headings in this order: Datos personales, Perfil profesional, Experiencia laboral, Formación académica, Idiomas and Competencias, and the content under them is written in Spanish from the first line, not translated from English afterwards. The constraint is the market: a CV for Spain, one for Mexico and a Spanish version for a bilingual US employer share the headings but not the details. For Spain, the European Union's EURES job portal says "Unless otherwise indicated, both the letter and CV must be drafted in Spanish on a computer and in A4 format." Below are the blank template and five complete resumes, checked in October 2026, each tagged by level. Written by Mustafa Tarabya, who hired for his own company, read every application himself and now writes CVBooster's guides.
Paste an English resume into a translator and it comes back grammatical, confident and wrong in every heading, like a menu translated by someone who has never eaten there. A recruiter in Madrid or Monterrey spots it in one line. The fix is to start from a Spanish structure and write into it.
The blank Spanish resume template
Copy this skeleton into a plain document, keep the headings exactly as written, and replace each bracket. It works for Spain and Latin America; the sections below show what changes by country.

Three details catch most people. Spanish uses accents on the headings themselves (Formación, Información, Competencias), and a heading without them looks like a typo. Dates are written as "marzo de 2023", with the month in lower case. And the personal pronoun disappears: "Gestioné la agenda de tres directivos", never "Yo gestioné".
Spanish resume for a job in Spain
Spain's CV is closer to the European CV than to an American resume. EURES says plainly that "There is no single template for a CV", and it lists four models: ascending chronological for people with little experience, descending chronological for people with a lot, functional for people who have worked in unrelated sectors, and the European format. On length it advises: "It is best to limit it to two A4 pages." On the photo question it says "It is not compulsory to attach a photograph, although this may be useful for some jobs."

If you apply in Spain from abroad, the European CV vs American resume guide covers what an American resume habitually leaves out, and the Europass CV is the alternative format EURES itself names; Europass describes it as "one of the best-known CV formats in Europe".
Spanish resume for Mexico and Latin America
In Mexico the document is usually called "currículum vitae" or simply "CV", and in Colombia "hoja de vida". The headings stay the same. The language changes in small ways that a local reader notices: "computadora" instead of "ordenador", "celular" instead of "móvil", and job titles such as "ejecutivo de ventas" or "auxiliar administrativo". Write for the country of the job, not the country where you learned Spanish.

Spanish resume for a bilingual job in the United States
Most US employers still want the resume in English, even for a bilingual role. Send the Spanish version when the posting is written in Spanish or asks for one, and keep both versions identical in facts. CareerOneStop, the US Department of Labor's career site, advises that the reader should find your qualifications quickly "and that you use terms that match their job posting", which in a bilingual role means using the posting's Spanish terms too.

Functional Spanish resume for a career change
EURES lists the functional model for people who have worked "in two or more sectors which appear to be different or that are not clearly linked to one another". It groups what you can do above where you did it.

Translate or rewrite: how to move an English resume into Spanish
I moved into technology work in a second language, and the lesson was the same one every recruiter reading a translated CV already knows: the reader forgives a small grammar slip, not a document that thinks in another language. Rewrite in this order.
- Headings first, from the template above, with accents.
- Job titles as the local market writes them, not word for word ("Técnico de soporte", not "Especialista de soporte técnico" because the English said specialist).
- Bullets in the first person past tense without the pronoun, keeping every number.
- Dates and phone numbers in the local format.
- A native speaker reads it once before it goes out.
If the employer also wants a letter, the cover letter in Spanish guide has the openings and closings that match this CV, and the CV vs resume guide explains which word to use when you apply in English.
Frequently asked questions
How do you say resume in Spanish?
Currículum, currículum vítae or simply CV in Spain and Mexico, and hoja de vida in Colombia. All three name the same document. Use the term the job posting uses, and put no title at all at the top of the page: your name is the heading, exactly as on an English resume.
Does a Spanish resume need a photo?
Not in Spain by rule. EURES states that "It is not compulsory to attach a photograph, although this may be useful for some jobs", which in practice means customer facing roles. For a bilingual job in the United States, leave the photo off, the same as on the English version of your resume.
How long should a Spanish resume be?
One page for students and early career applicants, and two at most for everyone else. For Spain, EURES advises "It is best to limit it to two A4 pages." Use A4 paper size for Spain and Europe, and US letter size for American employers.
Should I translate my English resume into Spanish word for word?
No. Translate the facts and rewrite the language. Word for word translation keeps English job titles, English date order and English sentence rhythm, and a native reader notices all three in the first lines. Use the Spanish template headings, local job titles, and have a native speaker read the final version once.
Is the Europass CV a good Spanish resume template?
It works for public sector posts, European programmes and applications from another EU country, because EURES names it as the alternative to conventional templates. Private companies in Spain are just as happy with a clean two page CV built on the headings in this guide.
