A teachers aide resume shows who you supported, in which grades, and what changed in the classroom because you were there. Below are six complete resume examples for teachers aide jobs, from a first-time applicant to a lead aide, checked in November 2026. Each one names the age group, the group size and at least one specific thing you did with students. Pick the closest sample, keep the structure, and replace the details with your own.
Principals read these resumes with a very simple question: will this person be calm when 24 seven-year-olds are not? Loves children does not answer it. Ran the reading group of six every morning does.

If you have no school job yet, use volunteering, tutoring, babysitting, coaching or youth work. Name the age group and the number of children, and keep the tone plain.

What the sources agree on
The U.S. Department of Labor's O*NET database defines the role this way: "Assist a preschool, elementary, middle, or secondary school teacher with instructional duties." The task list includes "Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers." and "Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips." Together those lines are your resume sections: instruction support and supervision.
It also lists "Observe students' performance, and record relevant data to assess progress." If you tracked reading levels, behavior charts or homework completion, say so with a number.
MIT's career office advises in its resume guide: "Whenever possible, include how you performed tasks, not just what you did." For an aide, the how is the group size, the grade and the method, such as guided reading or a visual schedule.
Harvard's career services notes in its resume guide that a resume "should highlight your strongest assets and skills, and differentiate you from other candidates seeking similar positions." For a teachers aide, the differentiators are the age group, the certifications and any language or special needs experience.

What to leave out
- Love working with children, on its own. Show it with a group, a grade and a task.
- Teacher duties you did not perform. An aide supports instruction; do not claim to have written lesson plans unless you did.
- Names of students. Never include student names or details.
- A long objective. Use two lines in the summary.
