Construction Resume Template: 6 Full Samples by Trade

A construction resume template that works is one page, one column, with your trade and your safety cards in the header, a three line summary, jobs listed by project type and size, and a block that names the tools and equipment you are qualified on. The constraint is the reader: a superintendent or hiring foreman decides in one pass whether you can do the work on their site, so anything that makes them hunt for your trade, your cards or your availability costs you the call. O*NET, the US Department of Labor's occupation database, describes construction laborers as workers who "Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites." Below are six complete samples, laborer to project manager, checked against O*NET in October 2026. Written by Mustafa Tarabya, who hired for his own company, read every application himself and now writes CVBooster's guides.

Most construction resume templates online were designed for an office. There is a photo circle, a hobbies section and a bar chart that rates "Hard Working" at four out of five. The foreman reading it has one question, which is whether you will be at the gate at 6:30 with your boots on, and the bar chart does not answer it.

Construction laborer resume with no site experience

A first construction job is won on reliability you can prove and physical work you have already done. Landscaping, warehouse shifts, moving jobs, farm work and helping a family member renovate all count, and our warehouse resume guide shows the same idea for loading docks. Put the closest work first and say what you lifted, dug, loaded or built.

The construction resume template, section by section

Every sample on this page uses the same five blocks in the same order. Copy the order, fill it with your own work, and keep it to one page until you run projects.

The safety card goes in the header because sites check it first. OSHA's Outreach Training Program page explains the two levels: "The 10-hour class is intended to provide workers with awareness of common job-related safety and health hazards, while the 30-hour class is more appropriate for supervisors or workers with some safety responsibility." Write which one you hold. If yours is the 30-hour card, it is worth saying so even on a laborer resume.

Apprentice carpenter resume

An apprentice is hired on progress: which year you are in, how many hours you have logged, and what you can already do without a journeyman watching. O*NET's carpenter profile lists "Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge" among the core tasks, which is a good reminder to name the basic work plainly. Our carpenter resume guide covers the full trade page.

TRAINING Carpentry apprenticeship, second year, classroom and on-the-job hours current. Scaffold user training, fall protection awareness.

SKILLS Layout with chalk line and laser, metal stud framing, door installation, formwork, powder actuated tools, reading floor plans.

Heavy equipment operator resume

Operators are screened on the machines they can run and the work they did with them. Write every machine by type and, if you know it, by size class, and say what the job was: mass excavation, trenching, grading to stakes, loading trucks. O*NET's task list for operating engineers includes "Locate underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work", and a line that shows you call in and respect locates reads as safe on any civil site.

EQUIPMENT Excavators, dozers, wheel loaders, skid steers, rollers, backhoe, GPS machine control.

Journeyman framer resume

Once you are a journeyman, the resume stops being about what you can lift and starts being about what you can build without being told how. Name the building types, the size of the jobs and how many people you run on a wall or a floor. If you are applying across trades, the construction worker resume page shows the broader version.

Construction foreman resume

A foreman resume is read for the size of the crew, the size of the job and the safety record. O*NET's profile for first-line supervisors of construction workers lists "Assign work to employees, based on material or worker requirements of specific jobs" and "Inspect work progress, equipment, or construction sites to verify safety or to ensure that specifications are met." Those two lines are the job, so your bullets should prove both. The construction foreman resume guide has more bullets by trade.

Complete Senior: concrete foreman on commercial projects example, 161 words, laid out as it would sit in the application form

Construction project manager resume

At project manager level the template changes in one place: projects become the unit, not employers. Give each project its type, size, contract value if you are allowed to share it, and the result against schedule. O*NET's construction manager profile lists the core duties as including "Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports", and that is the work your bullets should prove. The construction project manager resume page goes deeper on the role.

Mistakes that cost construction applicants the call

Frequently asked questions

What is the best construction resume template?

The best construction resume template is a one-page, single-column layout with your trade and safety cards in the header, a three line summary, experience by project type and size, and a block for tools, equipment and certifications. It reads cleanly for a foreman and for hiring software.

How do I write a construction resume with no experience?

Lead with physical work you have already done, such as landscaping, warehouse shifts, moving or farm work, and say what you lifted, dug or built. Put an OSHA 10-hour card, your driver's license and your transport in the header, and say which trade you want to learn.

Should I put my OSHA card on my construction resume?

Yes, in the header next to your name. Write whether it is the 10-hour or the 30-hour card, since OSHA describes the 30-hour class as more appropriate for supervisors. Sites often check it before anything else, so do not make them look for it.

How long should a construction resume be?

One page for laborers, apprentices, journeymen and operators. Foremen with long project histories and project managers can use two pages if the second page lists real projects with their size and results. Never add a second page for hobbies or references.

What skills should a construction worker list on a resume?

List the tools, machines and methods you actually use: power tools, layout, formwork, framing, the equipment you are qualified on and any software like Procore or Bluebeam. Add bilingual skills if you have them, because many crews work in two languages. Skip vague words like hardworking.
