A CV for event management in the UK is a two-page document that proves one thing: you can deliver an event on time, to budget and without anyone noticing the three things that went wrong at 6am. Below are six complete CVs, checked in November 2026, from a student with society events behind them to a head of events. Each one puts the events, the budgets and the headcounts in the first lines, which is where a shortlister decides. If you are applying in the United States, the matching job page is our event manager resume, which uses American spelling and layout. This page is the UK version.
Every events CV says "excellent organisational skills". So does the CV of the person who was late to the interview. The version that gets a call says which events, how many guests, what budget and what the supplier did when the marquee did not arrive.
Example 1: a student or recent graduate with society and volunteer events
With no paid events job yet, use the events you did run. A ball for 300 guests organised by a student society is an event.

What the official sources say
The National Careers Service sets out what employers want in its events manager profile: "Employers will usually look for relevant experience and strong transferable skills, like organising, budget management and marketing." That is a checklist for your profile and bullets, in that order.
On how to get the experience, the same page says that "Volunteer work as a crew member at large events or exhibitions can be a good way to get experience, build contacts in the industry and get to know about vacancies that go unadvertised." Volunteer crew roles therefore belong in the Experience section, with dates and the name of the event.
Prospects, the graduate careers service, is clear about what matters in its event manager job profile: "Employers are more interested in your skills, personal qualities and experience in the industry." It also says that "Relevant experience, either paid or voluntary, and knowledge of the industry is essential to enter this competitive field." Neither sentence mentions degree classification, so keep it short on the page.
The Health and Safety Executive publishes guidance on running an event safely, covering planning, managing and reviewing an event once it is over. Mentioning health and safety in your bullets, with the actual paperwork you wrote, is a quick way to show you have run real events.

How to lay out an event management CV
- Name and contact. Name, town, email and phone, and a LinkedIn link if it is up to date. Leave out the photo and your date of birth.
- Profile. Two or three lines: your level, the kind of events, and the post you want.
- Experience. Job title, employer and dates, then bullets that give the event type, the number of guests or exhibitors, the budget and what you personally did.
- Education. Your degree or diploma and any relevant professional award.
- Professional. First aid, licences, health and safety training and professional body membership.
- Length. Two pages. One page for a student or recent graduate.
For the wording of the profile and the layout of the page, read our guides to what a CV looks like and personal statement examples. If you have no paid events work yet, CV example with no experience shows how to use volunteer and society roles. Events people also move across from related fields, so the hospitality CV example and the marketing CV example are worth a look, and the event manager cover letter goes with this CV. In the UK a CV and a resume are the same document under two names, and our guide to CV vs resume explains where the habits differ.
What to leave out
- "Excellent organisational skills" with nothing behind it. Show the event, the guest numbers and the budget instead.
- Budgets and fundraising totals you cannot back up. Employers ring referees.
- A list of every event you ever worked. Pick the five that match the post.
- Guest or client names under confidentiality. Say a large financial services client, or the type of event, instead.
- Photos and personal details. UK CVs leave them out.
Frequently asked questions
What should an event management CV include?
A profile, your events with guest numbers and budgets, the suppliers and teams you managed, health and safety and licensing work, relevant training and your education.
How do I get into events management with no experience?
Volunteer as crew at a festival, run a society event or work in a venue, hotel or conference centre. Prospects and the National Careers Service both say that relevant paid or voluntary experience matters most, so put it near the top.
How long should an event management CV be?
Two pages for most people. A student or recent graduate can use one.
Should I put event budgets on my CV?
Yes, if they are true. A figure for the budget you owned tells a shortlister the scale of your responsibility better than the word "responsible".
Is it CV or resume for event management?
CV in the UK, resume in the United States. The content is the same, but UK CVs run to two pages, use British spelling and leave out photos and personal details.
